光の対話を教えてくれる蛍
蛍の光は、蛍が仲間達とコミュニケーションとってるので、光の対話ともいわれるそうです。
蛍が舞う景色と出会えると、自分の心の声に耳を向ける時間をもらえるような感じがします。蛍の光をみようと静かに、そっと耳までも光に向ける私達。そのような瞬間に起きる心の会話も、光に変換するとしたら蛍と同じように美しいかもしれませんね。
昔から言葉では描ききれない心の対話を、蛍の光のイメージを通してのプチ瞑想として親しまれています。 例えば 私達を去った方々に伝言を伝えてくれるよう、蛍が天国へ飛び、伝えてくれるとも思われたり、また、身近に去った方が蛍の光で挨拶してくれたような体験をする方も少なくないようです。
平安時代、作者不詳の歌物語「伊勢物語」の中で、暮れにくい夏の夕闇、物思いにふけっていると、なんとなくもの悲しく感じるものだという雰囲気で、 「空に飛び上がる蛍よ、雲の上まで行くことができたら、秋風が吹くと雁に告げてくれ」と歌う場面があります。 「ゆく蛍 雲の上まで去（い）ぬべくは 秋風吹くと雁に告げこせ」
絶妙なバランスで成り立つ無数の自然現象の中でも、蛍の光は私達の微笑みを引き出しては、 まるで宇宙全てに挨拶を届けるような素敵さがあります。 蛍が引き出す微笑みが、過去から現在までの全ての宇宙に届きますように、 ご先祖様、私達の現在を見守っていてくださいね。
今年の蛍たちの戯れを楽しみにしております。

“Listening to Dialogues of lights”
Glimmers of fireflies in Summer evenings turn into a beautiful tapestry. The lights are fireflies communicating with each other using flash patterns, inviting us to attend such dialogues in silent curiosity.
When we visit such scenery with families, we ask all children to close their mouths, open their eyes, and move softly so we can experience light dialogues of the fireflies. Quiet attention with a big group invites all our ears to listen to an inner dialogue. And a miraculous balance the nature shows its beauty; we all touch moments of daily petit meditation as a whole group,
The Tale of Ise (904 A.C.) shows how fireflies are loved as a medium of inner dialogue For example, Fireflies are believed to send our messages to the beloved people who left us, or sometimes the people exiting life use the flash of fireflies to send us a wink.
The natural phenomena put us in awe. Such dialogues of the fireflies make us smile. If our smiles elicited by the fireflies may reach all past and present and everything in the universe, we may enjoy such moments as much as we can. And may our all ancestors get busy protecting the present.
