夏至-風習の智慧
夏至、1年の中で太陽が最も長く大地を照らすこの時期の、気候が異なる地域と智恵
北欧の夏至 ～日光浴を待ち遠しく待つ北極圏では 野外で日光を浴びながらのそれぞれの地域の特徴を生かした夏至祭が目立ちます。太陽が暮れない白夜を迎える地域でもあります。
日本の夏至と田植え 現在は時期が変動していますが、田植えを終えるのは直射日光をさけるべき夏の猛暑の前である、夏至から11日間の時期が風習となっておりました。そして田植え後は各家庭で地元のご馳走を囲んで賑わい、夏祭りを迎えます。
猛暑の地域 例えば砂漠では昼には40度を超え 日夜の温度差が20度となります。直射日光は避けての生活となりますので、月を中心に考える風習が人々にとって親切なのかもしれません。ヒジュラ暦やヒンドゥー暦は月を中心と考えている文化がみられます。
このような風習に眠っている古き智恵を考えるだけで、なにか心が温かくなります。

“Summer solstice and wise cultural patterns”
The summer solstice is the longest day of the year. People in Scandinavian and Arctic areas are waiting for the sun. Famous outdoor Midsummer festivals, often with flowers and good food, bring the joy of sunbathing. The Midnight Sun—the day when the sun does not set is also a special occasion.
Rice planting time in Japan In former custom, rice planting was for 11 days starting on Summer solstice day. Through this, people avoided exposure to summer’s hot and humid heat waves.
Area of intense heat For example, in the desert, the temperature exceeds 40 degrees in the daytime and drops around 20 degrees at nighttime. Since people need to avoid direct sunlight, the calenders with moon-oriented customs (like Hijri and Hindu calendars ) may be kind to people.
Just thinking about the old wisdom that sleeps in such customs will warm your heart.
